Volunteer Fair in Sanford

In order to recruit more volunteers for their apostolates, the societies hosted a “Volunteer Fair” after Sunday Mass on September 12th.

The ladies’ Altar Rosary Society (ARS) and the men’s Holy Name Society (HNS) are groups that assist with church and school projects. A large campus of an ever growing parish and school offers a variety of tasks that generous parishioners accomplish.

They placed their information booths between the exit of the church and the parking lot, so that no one escaped without becoming aware and feeling a spark of conscience for duty.

Twenty new members joined the Altar Rosary Society and twelve new members joined the Holy Name Society.

The apostolate rewards its members a hundredfold. Building repairs, grounds work, meal preparations, church and priory cleaning, altar flowers, sewing, priory management, event coordination, etc. bring joy, spiritual peace, and camaraderie.

The societies certainly welcome more members.

The Holy Name Society men's group (HNS) held its inaugural recruitment drive on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

Interest from veteran and new parishioners of St Thomas More was higher than we expected. Our two representatives, both officers of the HNS, explained its activities and accomplishments in service to the parish. Those interested were invited to attend our remaining 2021 meetings to experience the men's inspiring and informative spiritual discussions. We are optimistic we will have some new active members in January.

If you would like to join, contact Thomas Walsh: [email protected].
