On the feast of the Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul, June 29, Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais conferred priestly and diaconal ordinations at Sacred Heart Seminary in Zaitzkofen, Germany.

Sacred Heart Seminary (Herz Jesu) located in Zaitzkofen, Bavaria, near Regensburg, has been forming German-speaking priests for the Society of Saint Pius X since 1978, and welcomes seminarians of multiple nationalities: Germans, Austrians, Hungarians, Lithuanians, Dutch, Polish, Russians, Slovakians, Slovenians, Swiss, Czechs...

On June 29, Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais ordained three deacons: one German and two Swiss. He also conferred the priesthood on two seminarians: a Hungarian and a Czech.

A great number of clergy and faithful had traveled to the beautiful countryside of Lower Bavaria, south of Regensburg, to participate in the moving and ancestral ceremonies of an ordination liturgy.

There is an old popular saying: “A first blessing of a priest is worth wearing out the soles of one’s shoes.” At the end of the ceremony, as is the custom in Germany, the new priests give their first blessing together to all those who are present. An indulgence is associated with this blessing.
