The Dubbing of the Knights of Our Lady of the Assumption
On Sunday, April 25th, 2021, three men received the Benedictio Novi Militis, the liturgical dubbing of the Roman Pontifical into Knighthood at St Thomas More Church from His Excellency Bishop Bernard Fellay.
In season and out of season, a group of steadfast men, encouraged by our prior, Father Vernoy, has insisted on keeping the Rule of the Knights of Our Lady, or Militia Sanctae Mariae. It has been a long and difficult journey with many trials and hardships. The spiritual growth, intellectual formation, and physical discipline necessary to become a Knight are only accomplished with great struggle.
The rite of dubbing is a sacramental that imparts a unique grace and gives a special mission to the recipient. It is not only an honor but also a responsibility. The three perpetual vows of conversion of life, fidelity to the order, and defense of the Church are now a lifelong obligation.
Let us thank God for this victory. It is a victory for each new Knight to have come so far. It is a victory for Our Lady that men have been Knighted to Her honor. It is a victory for Holy Mother Church that men are still willing to vow to defend Her unto blood.
Dignare me laudare Te Virgo Sacrata;
Da mihi virtutem contra hostes tuos!
On the vigil of the Dubbing ceremony, the future knights made their Profession. Then they spent the whole night in the chapel, in front of the Blessed Sacrament to prepare for the grace of the Dubbing.
